As Cybersecurity Awareness Month comes to an end today, it’s important to stay vigilant and take steps to protect yourself online. Here are some tips to help you stay safe on the internet:

1. Use strong and unique passwords: Avoid using the same password across multiple accounts. Instead, use a password manager to generate and store complex passwords for each account.

2. Enable two-factor authentication (2FA): 2FA adds an extra layer of security to your accounts by requiring a second form of authentication, such as a fingerprint or a code sent to your phone.

3. Keep your software up-to-date: Regularly update your operating system, web browser, and other software to ensure that you have the latest security patches

4. Be cautious of phishing scams: Phishing scams are fraudulent attempts to obtain sensitive information such as usernames, passwords, and credit card details. Be wary of unsolicited emails or messages that ask for personal information or contain suspicious content.

5. Protect your personal information: Be mindful of the information you share online. Avoid sharing sensitive information such as your social security number, home address, or financial details unless it’s necessary.

In addition to these tips, it’s important to practice ethical behaviour when using the internet. Here are some guidelines:

1. Respect others’ privacy: Avoid sharing other people’s personal information without their consent.

2. Avoid cyberbullying: Refrain from harassing or threatening others online.

3. Do not engage in illegal activities: Do not use the internet for illegal activities such as hacking, piracy, or fraud.

By following these tips and ethical guidelines, you can help protect yourself and others online.
