Nigerian Government to train 3 million technical talents by 2027

As part of the plans by the Nigerian Government to train 3 million technical talents by 2027, the Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr Bosun Tijani announces the launch of #3MTT programme, targeted at generating a pipeline of technical talents across Nigeria.

The initiative is a key part of the Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy plans to achieve Nigeria’s objective of becoming a net talent exporter and significantly growing the Nation’s digital economy.

The programme training focus area:

For the first phase, we will focus on these twelve (12) technical skills:

  1. Software Development
  2. UI/UX Design
  3. Data Analysis & Visualisation
  4. Quality Assurance
  5. Product Management
  6. Data Science
  7. Animation
  8. AI / Machine Learning
  9. Cybersecurity
  10. Game Development
  11. Cloud Computing
  12. Dev Ops

The programme’s first phase will be executed as a fellowship model in collaboration with NITDA. We will select individuals interested in specific skills and fund the cost of their training with training providers accepted into the programme.

According to Dr Bosun, “We are now inviting applications from training organisations to train 30,000 tech talents across Nigeria over the next 3 months in this prototype phase in partnership with National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), as we design the most optimal way to deliver technical training to future cohorts”.
