University of Uyo launches master’s degree programme in Cybersecurity, Data Science

The University of Uyo has added new programmes to its long list of post-graduate programmes.

The programmes are:

  • MSc (Cybersecurity)
  • MSc (Data Sciences)

The TEDFUND Centre of Excellence in Computational Intelligence Research (TCEIR) of the University will facilitate the programme.

The duration for the programme is 2 years, made up of 4 Semesters. The programmes are fully accredited.

TETFUND Center of Excellence In Computational Intelligence Research (TCECIR), University of Uyo is a Research and Innovation (R&I) Centre established by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) in November, 2020 with the mandate of developing fundamental theoretical and practical solutions to real-world problems using a variety of computational intelligence technologies; through research, innovation and capacity-building. This mandate is to be carried out in collaboration with academics, industries and other institutions in Nigeria, Africa and other countries across the globe, through some selected applied research areas and short-term training courses.

The overall goal of TCECIR is to invent and exploit modern techniques to address the development challenge–through high-quality, industrially relevant research that targets appropriate Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Specifically, TCECIR aims to educate and train Nigerians, Africans and African researchers in the field of AI – CI, data science, data mining, optimization and other AI paradigms, who will develop and deploy innovative intelligent services to address developmental challenges across all its high-priority domains.
