Canada has unveiled a new immigration route for carpenters, plumbers and welders from other countries, including Nigeria.

In a statement from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) on Tuesday, the country announced a streamlined immigration route for skilled workers with specific carpentry, plumbing and welding expertise.

“Canada’s Express Entry (EE) system is now designed to provide a streamlined and efficient pathway for those with expertise in key areas,” he said.

He said that by prioritising the invitation of highly skilled newcomers with experience in the professions, the country aims to meet the growing demand for talent and fill key positions contributing to the country. economic growth and progress of the country.

“Selection rounds based on this category will continue throughout the year, with general invitation rounds and details to be announced in the coming weeks,” he added. IRCC Minister Marc Miller said it is extremely important to address the shortage of skilled workers in our country and part of the solution is to help the construction industry find and retain the workers it needs.

“The selection round based on this category recognises that these skilled workers are essential, and I look forward to welcoming more of these talented individuals to Canada,” he said.

In May, Sean Fraser, a former IRCC minister, announced changes to EE through classification selection, a new process to welcome newly qualified people with preferred work experience as an EE. way of being a permanent resident.

Canada’s Express Entry is an online system used by the Canadian government to provide permanent residence to skilled workers. It is the country’s main system for managing skilled worker immigration applications for Canadian immigration. According to attorneys at the Canada-based First Immigration Law Firm, there are many ways for qualified professionals and workers to apply for a Canadian immigrant permanent resident visa.

“The most popular option is Express Entry, which is the main route into Canada for economically skilled workers. The best way to qualify for entry is to meet the requirements of the Federal Skilled Worker Program or the Canadian Experience Class,” they said.
